There is no really single poker basic to learn or advance strategies to familiarize yourself with. Popular variations of poker basics are there to study but generally, poker is played with a standard deck of 52 cards in different 13 ranks and four different suits. The clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades each have an ace, king, queen, jack and numbered 10 to 2 as ranked from highest to the lowest rank. For example, in a draw style of poker, players have a chance to discard a card in their hand and can get replacement from the dealer as oppose to a stud style where there is only an additional card being dealt to each player. There are five actions that you will hear from a poker table, it’s either to check, to call, bet, to raise and to fold. You can choose any of this action when it’s your turn to act in the table.

You can choose to check if there is no bet available in the table and pass the action to the player next to you or you can act to bet. As with the action of call, the player can choose to match the bet with the available bet in the table or you can act to raise the bet by increasing the bet in the table. Of all, you can act to fold your card if you know you have no chance of winning. With this action, you must surrender your cards and your chance of winning the pot is forfeited.
